Answer
Post-Drydock Verification Checklist
- Prior to Dock Flooding:
- Verify all bottom drain plugs (fuel tanks, ballast tanks, cofferdams) are re-installed, vacuum-tested, and cement-sealed.
- Confirm sea chest strainers, ice boxes, zinc/aluminum anodes, and ICCP reference electrodes are secured.
- Inspect tailshaft rope guard, cutter, line-thrower, and verify poker gauge / wear-down readings.
- Confirm all overhauled sea valves, storm valves, and overboard discharges are closed and operational.
- Immediately After Undocking (Afloat):
- Inspect all sea chest valve glands, bilge suction wells, and stern tube seals for water ingress.
- Measure Main Engine crankshaft deflections afloat to confirm hull alignment matches drydock baseline.
- Purge air from steering gear hydraulic systems and conduct full movement/limit switch tests.
- Test Emergency Diesel Generator, primary generators under load, and verify main engine turning gear interlocks before engine trial runs.
