Answer
1.Stop sludge discharge immediately. Prior to sludge discharge – emergency stops to be tried out.
2.Our aim is to contain the spilled oil on board only and try our best that no oil goes over board.
3.Inform the master and the company and sound the emergency on walkie talkie/ PA.
4.Inform Coastal state so that necessary precautions can be taken by them to contain the spill.
5.Follow the company procedures related to SOPEP listed in SMS. SOPEP is already rigged and in a state of readiness.
6.Muster the crew and explain how the oil has to be transferred internally. Oil spill duties to be carried out by each person.
7.Ensure scuppers are plugged prior starting sludge discharge.
8.Rig wilden pump and transfer oil from the save all tray and the Deck to internal tanks – such as waste oil tank
9.Saw dust and oil sorbent to be used to absorb the oil to prevent spreading. Use OSD where necessary. 10.Put AC on recirculation and endeavour to save from DOminoz effect leading to another contingency like fire. Fire fightingpreparadness to be ensured.
11.Maintain a timeline of events during this Incident.
12.All the garbage generated to be put carefully in the correct bin.
13.Inform the Coastal state about the situation of the spill and inform them once oil is contained and cleaned.
