Ans: 1. Make a failure of equipment entry in ORB under Code F and Overboard valves seal numbers. Also record in Engine log book.
2.Trouble-shooting to rectify problem.
3.Inform company, charterer and Maker of OWS. Raise urgent spares / service requisition to be available at next port.
4.Make a breakdown report and Report NC. Entry in ship’s defect list.
5.Inform Class and Flag. Take dispensation from flag for OWS failure and to designate a non-IOPP tank as IOPP tank for collecting the accumulated bilge water. Also submit RA, RCA and CA plan, Capacity of BHT, Weekly bilge water generation, Current retention status, possibility of water eveporation, Duration of Voyage, Requisition status, Copy of ORB( at least 2 weeks), Identity ogpther tank to collect bilge, RA including leak in engine room.
6.Prepare MOC.
7.Inform next port state agent and PSC and ask for availability of shore reception facility, also the RA and plan that how bilge water will be handled. Also send flag dispensation copy, urgent spares requisition status.
8.Message company to supply required OWS spares at the next port of call positively to enable repair of the equipment and also port agent to liaise for delivery of spares / service technician.
9.Upon arrival at port, discharge all bilge water to shore reception facility. Upon receipt of spare, repair the OWS. 10.Inform all parties about rectification of fault. Make entry in ORB about rectification of fault.
11.Request Flag to lift up dispensation.
