Ref from SOLASReg 20.6,7 and MSC 402(96) A-Checks on L/B ,FRB, RB are divided into weekly, monthly, annually& 5yearly.
1.Weekly (As per SOLAS Reg III/20.6)
• Visual inspection of survival craft & appliances.
• Engines of L/B, RB to be run for atleast 3min provided ambient temp is above the minimum temp. reqd
for starting of Engine.
• If weather allow, the LB except Freefall shall be moved from stowed position to check launching
appliances without any person.
• Gen. emcy alarm to be tried out.
2.Monthly (As per SOLAS Reg III/20.6)
• If weather allow, the LB except Freefall shall be turned out from stowed position to check launching
appliances without any person.
• Monthly inspection to be done via checklist as devised and to be entered in logbook.

oLB locker & contents
oLB seat cushions & Seat belts
oLB all appliances like bilge pp, lights, search light, battery condition,etc,.
oLB door & hatch and their seal.
oCondition of Propeller
oNo leakage in hydraulic release system & hydraulic hoses.
oLB engine everything like gear oil, fuel lvl, v-belt, legging, etc,.
oLB engine to run for atleast 5min. if weather allow.
3.Annual ( shall be conducted by certified of either manufacturer or authorized service provider) Thorough examination of survival craft includes Weekly & Monthly items for satisfactory condition Engine & propulsion system

Power supply system
Bailing system
LB contents & appliances
Release system hooks, falls, sheaves, hydraulic system, skates, hyd motor, hoses, winches & their braking system.
Please include Fire extinguishing, self rightining system, Air supply system if have.
Cables for control & release
Braking system
Empty boat brake winch test.
4.5-yearly examination(As per SOLAS Reg III/20.7)
• Proof load of 1.1 times the wt. of SC & complement lowered and brake tested.
• Stressed structured parts checked.
• Dismantle hook release units.
• Tolerance and design clearances checked before reassembly.
• Examination of vital parts with reg ards to crack & defects.
