The Code is intended to provide standards to prevent the occurrence of potentially hazardous noise levels on board ships and to provide standards for an acceptable
environment for seafarers.
Purpose of code is- to limit the noise level and
-To reduce exposure to noise of seafarer
Its also refers the hearing conservation program
How to verify compliance asCE
●Verify noise survey report available
●Make sure hearing conservation program implemented.
●Conduct or request sound level measurement using specialized equipment.
●Make sure regular audiometric test of crew and keep records ●Make sure that crew wearing PPE
●Varify m/c working in optimal condition. And regular maintenance ●Make sure various lagging and Insulation are intact
●Make sure no loose foundation or stiffing member are intact
●Portable tool in good condition, if need discard.
●Make sure hearing protector order by HML method
●Make sure crew are aware of noise hazards , if need provide training and motivation.
●Make sure IMO symbol are pasted in common and working places.
●Tool box talk must include Occupational hazard related to noise. Observe behaviour pattern.
●Cabin Insulation through door packings.
