MEO CLASS 1 · ORAL QUESTION 31

Q14- In Bareboat charterer what does a shipowner keeps for himself to take care of?

Answer

Ans:

In Oil tankers : It will be CLC Insurance that only the registered owner has to keep it t to himself.

On all ship types: In Bareboat chartering, the shipowner retains ownership (Capital Cost of b building the vessel) of the vessel. However, operational control is assumed by the charterer. The charterer takes over crew selection, vessel operation, and management. So, in a Bareboat charter, the shipowner keeps ownership (Captal costs) of the vessel while delegating operational responsibilities to the charterer.
