Deviation Clause –

ship deviates from its agreed route
- For insurer it helps to limit the scope of coverage & reduce the risks associated with providing marine
lnsurnce
- For insured it provides some flexbilty in case of unforeseen circmstncs that may require a change in the

Conditions of Deviation Clause

2.Caused by unavoidable beyond control of the insured, such as natural disasters or unexpected navig atnl hazards are generally covered
3.Unforeseen dangers threatening the ship or cargo, such as severe weather conditions, piracy, mechanical failure which is done to protect the vessel or the insured guds it is carrying.
4.A situation where the deviant is necessary to get access to medical aid for a crew or passengers onboard a vessel i.e. urgent medical assistance is required
