Q1- Describe CLC in brief?

-CLC is International Convention on Civil liability for Oil Pollution Damage,69 -Adoption : 29th Nov-1969, EIF - 19 June-1975.

-Being Replaced by 1992 protocol.Adoption -27th Nov 1992, EIF - 30 May-1996. Applicable to 2000GT and Above Tankers must maintain Insurance.

-It Provides the Adequate Compensation to person who suffers loss due to oil pollution damage.

-CLC Requires the Owner to Maintain insurance Cover or financial Security equivalent to owners total Liability for one Incident.

-Covers the Pollution Damage up to EZZ of the State.

-The Convention Applies to all Sea going ships actually carrying oil in Bulk as Cargo, but only ships carrying more than 2000tonnes of oil are required to maintain Insurncein respect of oil damage. The Insurance is evidenced by the Document known as Blue Card Ships owner P&l Club, after that Flag state provide CLC

-Applies to Laden and Unladen Tankers, including Cargo Oil, Bunker Oil. Limits-

1) Below 5000GT= 4.51 million SDR.
