Ans – RO Cod is made in 3 parts and 3 appendices. Part 1 and Part 2 are mandatory and Part 3 are guidelines Part 1 – Requirements an organization must fulfill to be recognized by a Flag state
1.Publish its own rules and regulations and amend it from time to time
2.Maintain a register of ships under it
3.Carry out research and development
4.Have world wide presence
5.Verify compliance time to time with periodical surveys
6.Technical review of design plans
7.Attendance during construction, sea trails before delivery
8.Upon satisfaction, issue a class certificate
Part 2 – Requirements an RO must fulfill while carrying out a survey on behalf of a Flag state
Class can become an RO if it has the capacity to deliver high standards of service and fulfills the requirements of RO
