A - 60 ppm allowed
As C/EI will give following instructions to my 2/E and get them implemented through my team.
Will report the concern to the tech superintendent with my action plan to tackle the situation along with the risk assessment.
Will raise extra spares request considering inventory of purifiers.
1.Bunker Storage Tanks:
◦ Maintain bunker tank storage temperatures at 45°C to aid settling.
◦ Avoid exceeding 55°C to prevent approaching the lower flash point limit of 60°C as per ISO 8217.
2.Settling Tanks:
◦ Cat fines emulsify readily with water. Maintain settling tank temperature above 85°C to aid settling and water
content removal.
◦ If a two-settling tank system is available, use both tanks on a rotational basis to extend settling time.
◦ Regularly drain settling tanks when operating on high-cat-fine-content fuel (draining every two hours may be
required).
3.Purifiers:
◦ Do not stir or homogenize fuel oil upstream of purifiers.
◦ Maintain purifier inlet temperature at 95°C and minimum throughput.
◦ Operate purifiers in parallel to improve removal rate.
◦ Take samples at the purifier inlet and outlet to assess efficiency.
4.Service Tank:
◦ Maintain service tank temperature above 90°C for settling and water content removal.
◦ Regularly drain service tanks when using high-cat-fine-content
