1.All new vessels built after 8 Sept 2017 should comply with D 2 standards.
2.All existing ships for whom their 1st IOPP renewal survey lies between 8 Sept 2017- 8 Sept 2019 can comply with D 2 standards after their 2nd IOPP renewal survey.
3.All existing ships for whom their 1st IOPP renewal survey lies after 8 Sept 2019 must comply with D 2 standardsafter their 1st IOPP renewal survey.
4.All ships should comply before 8 Sept 2024.
Why BWM not ratified in India-
1.Area for BW exchange not dedicated.
2.Reception facilities not available.
3.Not feasible to install for small shipowners.
