Answer
A – Qualification-
1.Qualification from a marine or nautical institution with relevance sea going experience as a Ship’s Officer. 5 yrs of experience in technical or operations- maybe CE, Master, Suptd.
2.10 days of training – min 5 days of classroom course.
3.Written Exam- max 2 attempts are allowed, followed by issuance of a certificate.
4.Training Audits- 4 training Audits within 24 months of issuance of certificate under the supervision of a qualified Auditor including ISM and ISPS Audits.
[NOTE: Combined ISM &ISPS Audit will be counted as 1 Audit only for the purpose of counting total Audits in 24 months
Candidate must have developed complete SSP approval under supervision]
Qualities-
1.He must be fully conversant with ISM, ISPS and shipboard operation and management.
2.He should follow code of ethics.
3.He should have clear understanding of mandatory rules & regulation, applicable codes, guidelines, standards recommended by IMO, admins, Classification Societies and maritime industry organizations.
